Great social events
For parents, senior school can be very different from primary school. The 'cosy' school gates atmosphere is replaced by the school bus or a swift pick-up from the car park.
As a result getting to know other parents, even within the same year group, can be a slower process. But one of the fastest ways to establish a whole new social circle is to come along to Friends events!
Or why not join us and help to organise and plan them?
Organising events
Friends meet a couple of times a term to plan and organise events. We have members from all year groups including the first form plus three staff members - all headed up by our "Chairman", Nicky Harris, and "Vice Chair", Bev Osborne (who also handles this website).
Our meetings are informal and chatty, not all stuffy or cliquey - a social event in themselves. Tea, coffee and biscuits are usually available and if we're lucky Mr Maud produces extra packets of chocolate biscuits, sometimes even boxes of chocs!
Like to join us?
It's always great to get fresh ideas for events. If you're new to The Grove we'd love to welcome you at our meetings. New parents are the future of the Friends PTA - and you may have valuable skills we can use!
So please come along to our next meeting (see below), call Bev on 0113 2665785 (day or evening) or contact us and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Emailing list
If you're on our growing email list you will already be receiving news updates. (And if you're not, then please send us your email address.)
Term diary, etc
Friends events are also listed in the Term Diary (under the heading FOWG). We also have use of the bottom section of the main noticeboard at the road entrance to the school. So with all these reminders, there's no excuse to miss out!!
